Summer in the City

With Ontario finally moving into Stage 3 of it’s reopening plan, we know that you’re ready to get out of your home and into the summer. We’ve put together a locals guide to some amazing activities, and events going on in Windsor Ontario, so that you can make Summer 2021 the best summer yet!

#1. Downtown Farmers Market

At the Downtown Windsor Farmers Market you’ll find farm fresh fruit, vegetables, produce and unique artisan food products from the best our area has to offer! Located at the corner of Pelissier St. &, Maiden Ln W., every Saturday from 8am – 1pm.

#3. Malden Park Hiking & Bike Trails

This 175-acre park features the highest hill in Essex County and some of the best views of Windsor. Naturalized biking and cycling trails wind up and down the hills and through paved and wood-chipped trails. Featuring a concert area, reception centre, various picnic spots, and a dog park – there is something for the whole family at Malden Park!

#5. Tune Up the Parks

Most annual festivals were either cancelled, or moved online for the 2021 season. However, “Tune Up the Parks” is going on every Monday in Colchester Park and every Wednesday at Heritage Gardens. The concerts kicks off at 7pm.

#7. Shop the Olde Walkerville Neighbourhood

Walkerville is one of the most unique neighbourhoods you’ll find in Canada, with a rich history steeped in the rollicking days of smugglers during Prohibition, the birth of the auto industry, and many “firsts” for a model 19th town.Unique shops, boutiques and restaurants line these streets, inviting a leisurely stroll with shopping and an excellent dining experience.

#9. Visit Windsor's Sculpture Park

Located primarily along the waterfront trail downtown, open year-round, and completely FREE! The Windsor Sculpture Park is a museum without walls, a unique park showcasing more than 31 large-scale, internationally recognized works of contemporary sculpture by world-renowned artists.

#2. WIFF Under the Stars

Windsor International Film Festival is hosting an outdoor screening event July 23 – 25. WIFF is transforming Charles Clark Square into an outdoor cinema! With a state-of-the-art LED screen, and sound that will fill the square, they are bringing  a slate of great movies to watch Under the Stars. Cost is FREE but registration is necessary. #4. Bird Electric Scooters

Take a ride on a Bird Electric Scooter. This pilot program came to Windsor at the beginning of May 2021 and offers electric scooters for rent at various points throughout the city. If you rent one of these fun scooters please ensure that you are following all of their safety rules and stay off of the sidewalks!

#6. Explore a Craft Brewery

Did you know that Windsor Essex is home to 12 craft breweries, with 6 located in the City of Windsor? Most have sampling, tours, and experiences avaialable! Make sure you check in advance due to COVID restrictions and capacities.

#8. Cool Down at Dari de Lite

Unique to and only available in Windsor, Dari de Lite is now in its 50th season! Known by many as the city’s best soft-serve ice cream it is definitey worth checking this local business out. Be preapred to wait as there is often a line-up, but don’t worry it moves fast!

#10. Stroll through Devonshire Mall

If you want to beat the heat indoors, be sure to check out Devonshire Mall. Built in 1970 at the location of the former Devonshire Raceway, a horse racing track, that had existed since 1935. It hosts a vareity of retail stores, a food court, and a Cineplex theatre.
